Slater Law Group & Lieberman (SHL) LLP is pleased to announce that Dr. Sandra P. Thompson, Of Counsel, will speak at the upcoming Strafford live webinar, “Conflicts in Patent Prosecution: Avoiding the Ethical Pitfalls” on Thursday, June 22 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EDT.

The webinar will include a panel of professionals providing guidance to IP counsel on the conflicts and issues that often arise in patent prosecutions. The discussion will outline best practices to identify and address the risks. It will also cover ways to minimize conflicts that can lead to malpractice liability and ethical violations.

As any patent prosecutor will tell you, there are a variety of risks associated with patent prosecution. This webinar is beneficial for any legal team involved in these types of cases. The panel includes legal professionals who have a deep understanding and years of experience in dealing with patent prosecution. They will cover important issues such as the steps prosecutors can take to minimize risk and how patent counsel should respond after identifying conflicts.

Counseling domestic and international clients on patent, trademark, copyright, licensing and new media transactional and litigation matters, Dr. Thompson has an extensive background in the patent field. She drafts, files, prosecutes and licenses patent applications and trademark applications on a regular basis at SHL. She also has a successful patent appeal and reexamination practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.

Dr. Thompson will be joined by Philip Furgang, Partner at Furgang & Adwar, New York. Furgang represents clients across all areas of IP law with a focus on complex patent, trademark, copyright and unfair competition matters.

There will be a live question and answer session with webinar participants following the presentation. This allows the panel to directly answer your specific questions about these important issues.

“At Slater Law Group & Lieberman, we believe that the more knowledge we can share with others, the better,” said Dr. Thompson. “That’s why I am excited and proud to be a speaker for this live webinar.”
